At First Sight...iPod Nano
I got my first taste with Apple products
in year 2007 when I got my iPod Nano, third generation of iPods. I had got some
discount coupons from ebay and also there was some discounts going on iPods. So
I jumped into and got one 8GB iPod for me.
I ordered it on Tuesday and was
expecting to receive by Saturday evening. As Friday loomed I got into weekend
mood and my heart said to leave early and I did follow the good advice ;).
After I had reached home I got a call from courier delivery for collecting my
courier. I called my friend and asked to collect the courier on behalf. Evening
my friend came and handed me the package. As I was opening the package I was
feeling already happy. Previously, I has used iPod of my friends but that was
the first time I had purchased anything that money on my partly salary :).
Once I had torn apart the packaging and
opened the apple box I found out a plastic box with transparent cover. And
here it was my first Apple product. I opened the box very carefully and took out
the iPod. It was really a wow moment. That was really liking At First Sight. And that liking is still continuing with my iPhone5. A device with elegant beauty and features. But that story
is for some other time.
My iPod Nano, a cute little thing with a square shape, having screen on top and clickwheel below it. The front of the iPod was brushed metal aluminium colour and the back is shiny silver. Now I thought of putting songs into my iPod and check out the sound quality. I was so in awe of my new thing that I forgot that this is no simple plug and put songs things. I had heard of iTunes but didn’t knew the restrictions. I plugged my iPod into my desktop and tried tirelessly to put a single song but could not. So after wasting my some precious 20-25 minutes and thinking that I had been given a faulty product. Finally I called my friend and was being laughed at not knowing of iTunes requirement. So being laughed off at I started downloading iTunes. Those of you who don’t know those were not the times of high speed internet. Even in today’s day 3G is not fast enough :P. Hence my wait to get the download complete took me late into night. But my patience paid off and finally I was having iTunes and started syncing songs to my new shiny iPod.
I took out the headphones from the box. Those
were white and the ends were shiny smooth white. The clicking sound of the
clickwheel that added to the nice nifty things of using iPod. I plugged the
headphones and played song, the sound was amazing. Now since it had a screen I
thought of watching a movie. Therefore I put a movie into iTunes then synced it and
watched the whole movie on that small screen. But that experience was amazing. Since
then my cute iPod Nano has been serving me well for past 8 years. A while ago it has
developed an error. The screen light does not work and that is the reason I am using
iPod as external music device in my car, as it had new plug and play. But still taking the iPod into my hands brings
the joy of having it. It was really love At
First Sight.
