Facebook bringing ‘missed call’ ad service to India
In a bid to increase its revenue earnings Facebook in bringing its missed call ads system to India. This is in line with Facebook’s effort to increase revenue from emerging markets.Facebook announced that they will be rolling out “missed call” ad service that will allow users to check for information from brands and advertisers without incurring data or voice charges.
This new feature will allow users to place missed calls to any advertiser by clicking the ad box from their mobiles, user will get a prerecorded return call which will contain all the details about the product. This type of model is already being used by mobile carriers, but first time any social networking company is implementing this kind of service. With a huge user base in India (100 million) Facebook will be able to serve a wide audience without causing their users to spend data.
Facebook’s revenue from India is not as significant as UK,
Canada & US, since market penetration of smartphone in India is still not
upto the level of EU5 and the United States. To face the challenge of slow
internet connection and most of the user base still on feature phones, Facebook
has optimized its ads to work on non touch screen phones as well. Facebook
already has been working with mobile carriers in bundling Facebook for users
without any data plans for their connections.
This feature is still in testing mode and will
be rolled out to all the users in coming months.Labels: Tech News
