Samsung’s new innovation for road safety: Safety Truck
Samsung, the company well known for its Galaxy smartphones, LCD, LED and curved screen TVs as well as legal battles with Apple. We all know or use Samsung in some way or other in our daily lives. Yesterday I came across an advertisement on YouTube from Samsung and the idea used and shown can definitely change the way we drive.
Yes, Google is working on its driverless
car, we have heard rumours of Apple working on its own Apple car( don’t call it iCar :P), HERE division of Nokia is also working on smartcars. But the
technology and thinking used by Samsung is different. Now not boring you, here
is the advertisement. Just take a look.
This initiative was created by Leo Burnett / Buenos Aires for Samsung’s Argentinian corporate
office to promote road safety.Isn’t it cool? I think this technology
can and should also be used here in India. As we too have many miles of single
lane roads and overtaking a long vehicle is really scary sometimes on these
roads. It could definitely help saves live in road accidents, caused due to
badly timed overtaking. And as Indians when we are on road, many of us drive
irresponsibly and think it’s the
responsibility of other persons on road to save us. This technology from
Samsung can definitely help us in achieving that target and maybe to live
longer. Jokes apart I had seen some badly timed overtaking gone horribly wrong.
In this technology, a built-in wireless
camera is placed at the front of vehicle and four rear outdoor monitors are
placed on back door of Samsung lorry, which will display video from the camera
fitted at the front of the vehicle. The trailing car, bike or any other vehicle
can plan the overtake of long vehicle once they see no incoming traffic from
they can over take, reducing the chances of an accident to zero. The camera is
equipped with night vision mode too. So no issues in night also, helping
vehicles at the back. This technology as Samsung in ad says, ‘An idea that instead or changing people’s
lives. Saves them’.
